For the 3rd consecutive year Audi Kuwait, represented by Fouad Alghanim & Sons Automotive, sponsored GulfRun 8, which took place at the Bahrain International Circuit over a two-day period from the 24th to the 25th of January 2013. The event was followed by a ceremony to award participants as well as sponsors, and specifically Audi Kuwait for its continued participation and engagement with the participating drivers.

As a sponsor of GulfRun 8, Audi showcased two Audi R8 V10 and provided racers and their guests a unique opportunity to ride alongside a professional qualified driver on a high-speed taxi-ride on 3 different tracks over the two-day period, demonstrating to the passengers the track capabilities of the dynamic Audi R8 V10, hands-on.

On this occasion, Tarek Ramadan alShafie-Marketing Director at Fouad Alghanim & Sons Automotive, commented “the purpose of the Audi Kuwait’s participationin this distinguished event is to educate drivers and visitors on the importance of safe driving that should only take place on closed circuits, in addition to educating them on the correct driving position, safety, how to drive on a circuit, handling the vehicle on turns, braking points, entry points, and proper exit techniques. The pointers and guidelines were presented by the professional drivers during the actual taxi-ride in the demonstrator vehicles or in the participant vehicles.”

Audi continues to reinforce its leading position in the high-performance sports car segment in the Middle East with the R8 V10 equipped with a 5.2 litre engine utilizing FSI and the quattro permenant four wheel drive technology, which propels the R8 V10 to 100km/h in 3.9 seconds. The naturally aspirated 5.2 litre engine delivers a full 530Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm and a maximum power output of 525 bhp at 8,000 rpm. The spectacular dynamics of the R8 5.2 FSI quattro are exemplified in a top speed of 316km/h.
