The new Lamborghini Urus: The world’s first Super Sport Utility Vehicle

Kuwait, February 1st, 2018 – Lamborghini Kuwait, represented by Fouad Alghanim & Sons Automotive Company, unveils the world’s first Super Sport Utility Vehicle (SSUV): the Lamborghini Urus.

Lamborghini Kuwait recently launched the latest vehicle to join the Automobili Lamborghini family, the all-new Lamborghini Urus, the world’s first Super SUV.

The launch ceremony took place in the heart of Kuwait City at Shaheed Park, where the Lamborghini Urus was unveiled for the first time in Kuwait. The Urus represents a new age for Lamborghini, a culmination of the latest developments of performance and technology in a world-class, one-of-a-kind Super SUV. It is the perfect fusion of a vehicle that combines luxury, power, driving dynamics, design and daily usability with the pure DNA of a Lamborghini.

The Lamborghini Urus features a multi-faceted personality, which blends together its coupe styling, comfortable ride, high ground clearance, luxurious interior space and latest technologies. Because of these features, the vehicle is capable of providing a diversified driving experience: easy daily driving in the city, maximum comfort on long journeys, thrilling super sports car dynamics on the road and track, as well as versatile off-road abilities in a range of different environments.

The Urus is powered by a new, front-mounted 4.0 liter V8 twin-turbo engine that delivers 650 HP and 850 Nm of torque – the first use of a turbocharged engine in a Lamborghini. The powertrain is complemented by an eight-speed automatic, which offers quick gear changes and exceptionally powerful starting ratio for exciting acceleration, and high speed at low engine revs for optimal fuel consumption and emissions.

Lamborghini Urus can claim one of the highest specific outputs in its class (162.7 HP/L), as well as the best weight-to-power ratio (3.38 KG/HP). The Urus provides super sports car performance, capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 12.8 seconds and onto a top speed of 305 km/h, making it the fastest SUV currently available.

The Urus also features a specifically-developed four-wheel drive system that delivers safe, highly-responsive driving dynamics on every road and surface in all weather. A Torsen central self-locking differential provides maximum control and agility in all driving conditions, particularly off-road. Torque is split 40/60 to the independent front/rear axle as standard, with a dynamic maximum torque of 70% to the front or 87% to the rear.

Additionally, the Urus features active torque vectoring via a rear differential, which enables propulsive power to be instantly distributed to each individual wheel for enhanced traction, depending on the driving mode, driving style and the road grip.

Rear-wheel steering has also been adopted from the Aventador S for use in the Urus. At low speeds the rear-axle steering is opposite to that of the front wheels, for increased agility and a reduced turning circle for increased manoeuvrability. At high speeds the rear-axle steering is parallel to the direction of the front wheels, for increased stability, ride comfort and optimum driving dynamics. The Tamburo is the Lamborghini driving mode selector that allows for the selection of driving dynamics according to surface conditions or drivers’ preference with the help of adaptive air suspension. There are a total of 3 on-road driving modes, 3 off-road driving modes and a customizable EGO driving mode. For on-road conditions: STRADA enhances comfort levels, SPORT lowers the vehicle’s ride height for stability and precision at all speeds, and in CORSA the vehicle is even more precise and performance-oriented with minimum levels of roll. For off-road conditions, the Urus utilizes its higher ground clearance to safely overcome rough terrain: NEVE is used for snow, SABBIA is used for sand and TERRA allows for overall control in off-road settings.

The Urus features an undoubtedly Lamborghini design, taking cues from both the LM002 (Lamborghini’s original luxury SUV), as well as Lamborghini’s super sports cars such as the Countach; with the outstanding proportions of the Urus adopting the classic two-thirds body, one-third window design ratio. The vehicle features a wide and muscular design, which communicates the Urus’ strong, dynamically-assertive character and commanding road position.

Familiar to the Lamborghini family are the Urus’ coupe-like silhouette, low roofline, frameless doors, elegant Y-shape LED headlights, aggressive front end and powerful rear design. The hexagonal wheel arches also draw inspiration from other Lamborghinis, and house wheel sizes ranging from 21” to 23”, the largest in the segment. The vehicle’s braking system is also in-line with the high level of performance, ensuring high thermal resistance and accommodating frequent and heavy braking in all conditions, with powerful Carbon Ceramic Brakes (CCB) as standard fitment.

The Lamborghini Urus is a true Lamborghini and the new benchmark for a Super SUV, delivering best-in-class lightweight technologies and power-to-weight ratio, with innovation in design and engineering to ensure the best possible driving dynamics as well as overall efficiency. The vehicle is aerodynamically optimized, combining form and function in order to produce the best performance results with high levels of stability, safety and driving dynamics, whilst also improving ride comfort, reducing fuel consumption and emissions.

The Urus is as much as a luxury SUV as it is a Super SUV, with its unmistakably refined and sporty Lamborghini interior design, together with multiple colourways and personified individuality. The vehicle can be customized with an array of exterior and interior colours that exemplify luxurious Italian style and craftsmanship. The ergonomic interior is full of high quality materials including the finest leather, Alcantara, aluminium, carbon fibre and wood.

The Urus can be configured with either a four or five passenger setup, offering seating positions that are low yet extremely comfortable, with all cockpit controls found within easy reach. The standard front DNA memory sport seats are fully-electric, heated and 12-way adjustable. There is an option for 18-way fully-electric front seats that includes features such as ventilation and massage. The rear seat bench can be lowered to substantially extend the trunk space.

The Lamborghini hexagonal theme echoes throughout the interior and the multi-function, three-spoke steering wheel incorporates a vibration damper, as well as Lamborghini Infotainment System (LIS) controls, in order to enhance comfort in all driving conditions, as well as paddle-shifters that enhance the performance driving experience.

The Urus is equipped with a fully-digital TFT display that shows the Urus’ main information in an animated 3D representation, which is customizable by the driver. The vehicle also features the Lamborghini Infotainment System III (LIS) that includes touchscreen infotainment across two screens. The upper screen is the key interface for entertainment, managing functions such as media, navigation, telephone and car status information. The lower screen provides a keyboard and hand-writing-compatible screen for inputting information, as well as control functions for climate control and seat heating. To accompany the experience, an optional high-end Bang & Olufsen Sound System with 3D sound and 21 fully active speakers can be specific.

The Lamborghini Urus is also offered with an array of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that provide a comprehensive level of safety, security and driving assistance. Features include a High Beam Assistant, front and rear parking sensors and an innovative PreCognition system that prevents or mitigates potential collisions. There are also optional ADAS features such traffic management systems, a top-view camera and trailer coupling mode.

The all-new Lamborghini Urus will be available soon at the Lamborghini Kuwait Showroom.
